It has taken me a long time to accept myself. For most of my life, I didn't want to be me, the socially awkward, shy, rather boring person who saw life just a little differently than other people. Now that I am hitting my middle years, I realize that it is okay to be the introvert who laughs at dark jokes and seems out of step with the rest of the world. It is okay to be me.
